Advocacy - Mental Health
Mental Health Advocates provide advocacy support to adults in Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley with mental health problems who live in the community, or are in hospital.
They can provide information and advocacy support on any issue raised. Most commonly they are asked about:
- Mental Health Services
- Housing
- Community Care
- Medication
- Benefits Appeals
- Family Issues
- Access to services generally, including legal services
Advocates do not know everything about all the topics they are asked about and, if appropriate, will signpost on to other agencies with more expertise. All problems and enquiries are dealt with in confidence.
Advocates will also support service users wishing to make complaints about any aspect of the services they receive.
Advocates will not undertake work which should be carried out by service professionals, but will work to ensure they get the care and support they feel they need.
