Volunteer Advocates

Invicta Advocacy Network recruits, trains, and supports volunteers to be Volunteer Advocates for people with mental health problems. They are supported throughout.

Most of the Network’s Volunteer advocates provide short term independent advocacy either on their own or alongside a mental health advocate. Their role is usually carried out in the Network’s office or occasionally in the community.

Volunteer Advocates are able to set aside their own judgement and represent the views of their clients as if they were their own.

Volunteer Advocates must not be employees of local mental health service providers and are therefore independent. They are independent of the Network, although they are placed and supported by the Network and out of pocket expenses are paid.
